Any Mesquite ISD staff member can create a group. Educators who are not assigned to a campus will need to indicate which schools the group will be visible on. Only one of the selected campuses will need to approve the group to make it visible to those selected.
Educators with Group Moderation rights (Principals) have the ability to approve, decline, and deactivate clubs. They follow these guidelines: FM Regulation & FM(Exhibit and use these Instructions for Group Moderators.
Once groups are made inactive, they will be deleted after 30 days.
Yes, groups may exist on multiple campuses. When creating a group, the requestor can choose to make the group visible to any MISD campus*. Example scenarios include:
Elementary Battle of the Books
A club for an entire feeder pattern
Mariachi Band for high school students
Destination Imagination
*Students from another school level may join a group hosted on a different level campus. For example, 8th grade athletes and band students transitioning to high school are able to join the high school clubs. In these cases, they must use the auto-join link generated from the group owner.
Yes, group owners can edit all fields if the status of a club is Pending. Once the status is approved and made active, group type and availability cannot be changed. You can, however, change the banner image, group name, description, and add links on the About page.
If you plan to communicate with group members over the summer, decide whether students and parents will need permission to post in the group. If communication is not necessary during the break, make sure posting permissions are turned off for both students and parents. Regardless of your settings, be sure to monitor any group activity throughout the summer. See this diagram to determine summer housekeeping needs for your group.
