WELCOME!
We are very happy you've chosen to complete an Elective in Geriatric Medicine at McMaster University, and look forward to working with you while you're here.
Please let us know how we can best meet your learning objectives while you're here, and if there is anything in particular you are hoping to experience. For example, usually visiting residents will have the opportunity to attend the Academic Half Day(s) for Geriatric Medicine Fellows, which occur on Monday afternoons from 13:30-15:30. Please ask your supervising Geriatrician for more information.
The website for the Geriatric Medicine Residency Program at McMaster can be found here.
You will need to register at the Postgraduate Office at McMaster University on the first day of your rotation. Please meet your assigned supervisor, as instructed, for orientation first thing in the morning on your first day. S/he will advise you further as to when you should travel to McMaster to complete this process. Usually, you will complete orientation with your fellow residents/clerks at either 08:00 (Dr. Gagnon) or 09:00 (Drs. St. Onge and McLeod) and travel to McMaster afterwards.
Directions to the Postgraduate Medical Education (PGE) Office can be found here, under the "Contacts" tab.
We also hope you will have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the City of Hamilton while you are here. Please let us know if you have any questions about accommodation, attractions, restaurants, etc. We think that our rapidly changing city has a lot of wonderful things to offer!
