The Landscape Committee is charged with sustaining and improving one of our association's most valuable assets: our grounds, especially our common areas and our front yards.
Our goal is to make everyone happy, but the reality is that our budgets are quite limited, so we will work with everyone to figure out how best to find solutions to meet the needs. Cooperation and coordination is explicitly encouraged! If you have any ideas, or just questions or comments, please send them to "Landscaping".
In an effort to manage our costs, we are seeking to arrange all our projects into rough year-long plans so that we can gain the most advantage from the crew-hours we have already under contract and minimize how often we are forced into needing (and paying for) an extra crew. Planning for the next year begins in September with the expectation that all the major decisions are settled in time for Association budget planning that needs to close well before the Annual Meeting in December. Obviously there will be exceptions and deviations from the plan, but usually most new ideas and requests will be incorporated into next year's plans. Again, any suggestions or thoughts about the next year's plan should be sent to Alex or the "Landscaping" email.
After years of discussions our board has approved a plan that includes the first part of this work scheduled to be completed before Spring of 2022.
The initial projects are:
[Note: the links immediately above are PDF copies of the most recent bids, dated February 14th, 2022. Typos will be fixed before signing.]
We expect to do the yards along Scenic and Adelheid and the other side of Dean as part of the subsequent years' budgets.
The bulk of the work is covered through a weekly service (Thursday mornings though about mid-afternoon) by a regular crew from Coastal Evergreen Company. Additional projects are arranged separately on an as-needed basis.
Note: our association's Tree Committee has their own contractor, and the Landscaping Committee works to avoid conflicts (similarly we work to avoid any issues with any Maintenance crews on site).
Documents and items related to the current landscaping crew are maintained on a separate Contractor page.
