Over the summer, Link Crew leaders dedicate a week to intensive training, preparing them to guide incoming freshmen during their orientation. This training gives leaders essential skills to serve as positive role models toward the freshmen. President of Link Crew Andre Hawley says he made sure every student felt welcome by "Making sure to always call them by their name so they feel included"
On orientation day, freshmen are introduced to high school life through a series of engaging activities led by their Link Crew leaders. These activities include icebreakers, campus tours, and small group discussions, all designed to help freshmen feel comfortable and connected. The goal is to ease first-day jitters and foster a sense of belonging.
The support doesn't end with orientation. Link Crew leaders continue to meet with their assigned freshmen groups monthly, providing guidance and encouragement as they navigate their first year of high school. This ongoing mentorship helps ensure that freshmen have a positive and successful high school experience.

Link Crew isn't just about helping freshmen, it is also about building strong friendships among the leaders. One of the most anticipated traditions is the annual beach cleanup. This event combines giving back to the community with quality bonding time.
On cleanup day, leaders head to a local beach, armed with gloves and trash bags, ready to tackle litter. While picking up trash, leaders chat, joke around, and enjoy each other's company. It's a relaxed day that strengthens the team's bond and reminds everyone of the importance of community service.
This tradition isn't just about cleaning the beach—it's about creating lasting memories and reinforcing the values of teamwork and responsibility that Link Crew stands for.
Link Crew Teacher
I have been teaching link crew for 3 years. The reason I decided to teach this class was becasuse I was a Link Crew leader in High School and saw the impact a good program could have on students, and as a teacher I wanted to improve school culture so if we can get to the 9th graders right when they get here it would make a bigger difference. The best advice I would give incoming leaders would be step outside your comfort zone, don't be afraid to do something you wouldn't do otherwise and be silly.
