At Concord High School there are many events hosted by the leadership class throughout the school year. Many of these events are dances, games, rallies and class events. At the beginning of the school year many of the students tend to anticipate the annual homecoming dance or week. For many students this rally is very important "this is supposed to give an idea of what the homecoming experience is like and it's important because for some people like the seniors, it's their last homecoming therefore they really want a good experience for their last homecoming" states Connor Morton-Hickok. During the week there are many fun events that take place like games during lunch and spirit week for the theme. In addition to this the Friday leading to the homecoming dance there is a school wide rally that takes place in the big gym. The gym itself gets decorated with streamers, posters and balloons. There are also 4 sections representing each class with a poster at the top decorated to fit the theme stating what grade each section is; Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. Each class also has a specific color to wear that day that represents their class. This year Freshman wore white, Sophomores wore gold, Juniors wore red and Seniors got to wear black. The theme this year was hollywood therefore the gym was decorated to represent a hollywood theme from colors of the decor in the gym to music playing in the gym, one could tell what the theme was and how it was represented in the rally.
As students walked in and filled up the bleachers sitting with each designated class you could hear the commotion of students radiating through the gym of excitement. You could see the spirit in the students as each section filled up with students as well as the section all having the same colors from students participating in spirit week by wearing their class colors. As the rally began the rally commissioners began the introduction to the rally. In addition to this the leadership class went to each section to hype them up and you could hear throughout the gym the excitement of students as they chanted their class names and cheered to be louder than all the other classes. Dayanna Garcia says "it's nice to see how energetic everyone gets and how they hype eachother up throughout the rally". These students all showed support to each other as games were played trying to cheer on their own section to win the games and get the most points. Many got the opportunity to participate in games that were put together to beat all the other classes or just hang out with their friends like Maria Perez-Giron who says "I enjoy just being with my friends and watching everyone play the games".
During the homecoming rally there are various types of performances from several groups at Concord High. Starting with cheer who had worked hard for 2 months to perfect their routine, they throw stunts, tumbling passes and end with a dance. As they performed you could hear cheering from the crowd as girls were thrown into the air and flipped their bodies across the mat. Following the cheerleaders there was a strong performance from our award winning band. They all took the center of the gym to play their instruments from the drums, trombones and saxophones and share their hard work to the rest of the school. With them preferring in the front auxiliary performed a dance that went with the music with their flags. Well coordinated with one another they gave off a marvelous performance. The last performance showcased was a surprise from the staff here at Concord High which caught lots of the students off guard. Mr. Honey and Ms, MacKinnon took the mic and lip synched and danced to music with many staff members participating as back up dances.

In addition to games and performances, many also anticipated the announcements of the homecoming royalty winners. Each class gets 3 winners out of all that ran. The announcements of Freshman, Sophomores and Juniors get announced at the rally. The senior class winners get a special announcement at the Homecoming game that same night. The last thing showcased at the rally is a special senior run each sport gets. More specifically the sports in the fall like football, cheer, volleyball, auxiliary, waterpolo, cross country, tennis, flag football and girls golf. Each team gets announced and seniors get to run around the gym and throw items to the crowd as they cheer for them.
