The European Union is going through a period of uncertainty. Our schools are a reflection of society and our students, teenagers, may experience that others are different to their standard and many times that leads to conflictive situations. We have noticed at school that teenagers need to be aware of their emotions, be able to name them, recognise them, learn how to control them and how to react in different situations. This can be done by taking part in social and emotional competence workshops and the circus trainings, which will show them the universality of their feelings and emotions.
The project "Circus of Emotions" aims at helping pupils to learn methods to control their impulses, build empathy and assertive communication and practise social skills in order to improve all their relationships in life. We will train body language and movement as well as stimulate creativity through different circus workshops and activities in order to have a final circus show together.
Mare de Déu de l’Olivar will take on the role of the coordinating partner. The team responsible for the project will organise the general communication among the project partners. We will take a greater responsibility for all parts of the project linked to emotional intelligence activities with our students. We also have a wide experience in the drama field for over 20 years.
Both German partners have experience in Erasmus + projects. Herzogenrath will especially contribute to both planning and implementing the project activities related to circus. They will provide expertise in body language and circus techniques. They will also look after all matters related to the evaluation of the project. Langerwehe will add their expertise on the techniques related to magic and music involved in the circus show.
Saules Gymnasium will especially focus on the emotional competence training activities as well as some circus techniques from the eastern tradition in Europe.
