malateans parade their excellence this 2023 wellness week 

After a long 3 years, Malate Catholic School hosted its first Wellness Week since the pandemic. Read about the intense sets, loud cheers, and seat thrilling games each assembly contributed.

Malate Catholic School hosted the 2023 Wellness Week Sportsfest last April 24-27, its first comeback after the pandemic. The whole school participated in the colorful activities and the highlight of the event, the sports. The Malateans excitedly displayed their talents in basketball, volleyball, badminton, chess, and in esports. 


Basketball

After an intense game between In the junior category, the grade 7 assembly did not back out from the finals game with the grade 8 assembly and claimed their victory. While the senior category gave an intensified game, after a close quarter between the grades 11 and 12 assembly, the higher grade scored the championship title. 

Volleyball

Everyone’s got their eye locked on the ball each time it is served to the other side of the court. The grade 6 assembly proved their abilities as they won over the grade 8 assembly in the mixed volleyball juniors category. While the grade 10 assembly snatched the championship title over the close match with the grade 12 assembly in the seniors category. 

Badminton 

Anticipation builds up as each passing shot is made in badminton doubles. In the juniors category, the grade 8 assembly rained in victory as they won both the championship titles in the women’s and men’s category. The senior assembly made the smash as the grade 11 assembly won the women’s double, and the grade 12 assembly in the men’s double. 

Chess

The Malateans exhibited different tactics in the game of chess. In the juniors division, the grade 6 (women’s) and grade 8 (men’s) successfully defended their kings. In the senior category the grade 11 (women’s) and grade 12 (men’s) assemblies strategized their way to the championship title. 

Esports

Egames were well recognized this year as several Malateans fought their way through the turrets. The grade 9 assembly from the juniors category, and the grade 12 assembly from the seniors category not only managed to destroy their enemy’s base, but clinched the championship title as well.
