The Shakey’s Super League (SSL) is an all women’s volleyball league that takes place here in the Philippines. It is organized by Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. and Athletic Events and Sports Management Group Inc.

The SSL was launched on August 16, 2022 at the Shakey’s Pizza ASEANA channel in Parañaque City, six years after they presented as a sponsor for the former Shakey’s V-League from 2004-2017. The rebranded league began last September 24, but was rescheduled a day after because of Super Typhoon Karding. It will run for two months, and resume for the first quarter of next year, 2023. The league is held at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Malate, Manila. With a first in Philippine volleyball history, both UAAP and NCAA volleyball jins are competing against each other.

The 10 NCAA schools competing are Colegio de San Juan de Letran, College of Saint Benilde, Emilio Aguinaldo College, José Rizal University, Arellano University, Lyceum of the Philippines University, Mapúa University, San Beda University, San Sebastian College - Recoletos, and University of Perpetual Help System Dalta.

On the other hand, the 8 UAAP schools are Adamson University, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, National University, Far Eastern University, University of the East, University of the Philippines, and University of Santo Tomas.

Founders Adrian Laurel (Athletic Events and Sports Management Inc, president and COO), Philip Ella Juico (Athletic Events and Sports Management, Inc chairman and CEO), and Vicente Gregorio (Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures, Inc president and CEO) expressed their excitement and anticipation for the games in the pre-season championship press conference, and they feel grateful for the bountiful support fans have been giving upon announcement of the league.

Laurel especially took notice of the different women’s volleyball teams’ academic schedules, “We do understand that our participants come from the universities, these are student-athletes. So we also take to heart that they have to comply with their academic requirements. We arranged the schedule so that it will not be disruptive to their academics,” he stated during the launch.

Statement from Shakey's returns with 2022 Super League; secures UAAP, NCAA commitment.

The teams were organized into four alphabetical pools.

The All to Play rule will be implied in the format of the games.

All to Play rule: Different sets of players will play the 1st and 2nd set except the libero. Substitution will return when match scores reach 16. Lastly, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th sets are typical play.

The first 2 from each pool will be then grouped into two other pools and will compete to determine their ranking in the knockout quarter finals. The winning team will compete in a

knockout semi final and winner-take-all finals.
