Cluster 8 celebrates the feast of our lady of remedies

"We should remember that our Blessed Virgin Mary ay malapit sa atin. Ang ating hantungan, ating lapitan. Ang Mahal na Birheng Maria ay hindi lamang ina ng ating Panginoong Hesukristo. Ibinigay [siya] ng Panginoong Hesukristo sa paanan ng krus na siya'y magiging ina rin natin. We have to accept that and allow her to be our mother," Father Boy shared.

Yesterday, November 18, 2022, the Cluster 8 Schools participated in the Holy Eucharistic Celebration in honor of Nuestra Señora De Los Remedios through a Facebook Livestream on the Cluster 8 Schools' Facebook page. The mass was presided by the school director, Rev. Fr. Elpidio D. Biliran Jr. together with the assistant director and finance officer,  Rev. Fr. Solomon A. Jardinero.

Fr. Boy talked about the title of the Blessed Virgin Mary as lunas (remedy) that began 800 years ago when people were sold to become slaves. People needed a lot of money to free the slaves, so they turned to Mary to help them with their fund-raising efforts. Mary was given the name "Our Lady of Good Remedy" as gratitude by St. John of Matha.

Rev. Fr. Biliran Jr. continues by stating that human trafficking is evil and that everyone should be treated with respect. He stated, "Ang tao ay larawan at wangis ng Diyos." (People are the image and likeness of God.) "Each of us has this privilege that would be worth respecting because we are the image and likeness of God."

"The Blessed Virgin Mary is our mother, on whom we should rely on when we are powerless and in need," Rev. Fr. Biliran continues. He added that she is the source of our everlasting health and tenderness when we need it.

Fr. Boy then reminds everyone that as Mary’s children, people should aspire to be like Jesus, and live a Christian lifestyle. Humans should also live according to God's will and goal, which is for them to get to heaven. Father reassures that following His commands will lead one to heaven, and that God does not want anyone to suffer for eternity.

Rev. Fr. Biliran Jr. then ended the homily with, "Always remember, do not get desperate in life whatever problems you have. Mary is there. She will help us. And today we rejoice because we are reminded of her great love and tender concern for each of us. Because she is the remedy of our lives."

The mass was followed by the blessing of the images of the Lady of Remedies which are to be distributed to the different classrooms.
