On December 8, 2022, Catholic churches around the country celebrated the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, including the Malate Catholic Church. The feast was observed to honor Mary through a mass dedicated to her. There were also online masses from different places and schools to celebrate it. In Malate Church, the 6 PM English mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Teakare Betero.

At the start of the mass, Fr. Betero described Mary as a “person that was preserved from sin the moment of her conception.” He also expressed Mary’s importance in Jesus’ life by saying, “without her, Jesus may have never been born.”

Fr. Betero mentioned that when God lends something, there will be no human failure. He further explained that because God lent Mary something, she will not have a chance of human failure. Nearing the end of his reflection, Fr. Betero encouraged the churchgoers in this feast of the Immaculate Conception to pray to Mother Mary.

Before finishing the mass, the commentator announced the ongoing donation program in connection to the upcoming Christmas. The celebration ended at around 7 PM.
