On June 15-16, 2023, at 8 AM, the recognition rites took place at the Jaime Cardinal Sin Gymnasium for grade school and high school student awardees, respectively. Ms. Andrea Bisuelan hosted the grade school recognition rites as Ms. Marinel Morales was for the high school department's ceremony.

Under the theme, "Malatean Achievers: Molded and Formed through a Resilient and Catholic Educational Foundation," student awardees from grades two to five, seven to nine, and eleven were conferred with awards and honors they earned over the school year.

Both ceremonies started with the processional of the students, faculty, and admin. An opening prayer followed, with Zeo Althea D. Remegio of Grade 5 Our Lady of Candelaria leading on June 15 and the MCS Glee Club leading on June 16. After this, the Malatean Scouts of the Philippines spearheaded the entrance of colors; then, the singing of the Philippine National Anthem followed.

Elipidio D. Biliran Jr., the School Director, Rev. Fr. Solomon A. Jardinero, the Assistant Director and Finance Officer, Ms. Marilou M. Lunar, the School Principal, and the class advisers.

Jourdane Angela Ballesteros of Grade 3 Our Lady of Mount Carmel then executed a special number. Then, the ceremony continued with awarding medals and certificates to grade four and five students.

Afterward, Shaine Ashley M. Arias of Grade 5 Our Lady of Guadalupe delivered a word of thanks. Following this, the grade school students performed and sang the “Thank You Song,” and a showcase of a year-end recap through an audio-visual presentation and singing of the MCS Hymn followed.

The ceremony ended with a closing prayer led by Caizley Olinne N. Perez of Grade 2 Our Lady of Rosary, the exit of colors, and the recessional of the student awardees.

High school recognition

Leanna Betinah L. Gutierrez of Grade 9 St. Elizabeth of Hungary delivered a welcome address at the ceremony.

Before the awarding of medals and certificates to grades seven and eight assemblies, Leila Gaile C. Soriano of Grade 8 St. Anthony of Padua performed a song. Rev. Fr. Elipidio D. Biliran Jr., Ms. Marilou M. Lunar, Solomon A. Jardinero, and the class advisers headed the awarding once more.

Before the ceremony proceeded with awarding the grades nine and ten assemblies, a song was performed by grade eleven students Lord Benedict Yao, John Adam Saylon, and Alcaeus Liwanag.

Following the awarding of high school students, service awardees were recognized and given a plaque that served as an acknowledgment for the years they have dedicated to the school. For the personnel, it was particularly given to Mr. Tirso Delos Santos Jr. of ECS and Mr. Rosalito R. Gomez of MCS, who served in the school for 15 years. For the faculty, a plaque was given to Mrs. Ma. Frances Aguilar  for her 15 years of service to MCS and to Mr. Ringo C. Dabu, who has been with the school for 30 years.

After, Aurora Isabel B. Madali of Grade 11 St. Albert the Great gave a word of thanks. The singing of the MCS Hymn followed, and a closing prayer led by Michael Xyrus G. Cuevas of Grade 7 St. John the Beloved marked the end of the event.

When the ceremony was nearing its conclusion, an earthquake broke out, halting the exit of the colors and recessional of the high school student awardees. Attendees were immediately requested to leave the gymnasium, as per standard protocol.
