On February 13, 2023, Monday, Malate Catholic School commemorated the 78th Anniversary of the Remedios Hospital Bombing through a program that transpired at 7 AM in the school’s quadrangle.

The program started with a prayer led by Michael Cyrus Cueva of Grade 7 of St. John the Evangelist, devoted to the departed souls during the world war. It was followed by the opening remarks of Mr. Frankmar Cabeltis, narrating the series of events that happened during world war II in the country. This was succeeded by a short presentation of the Remedios Hospital Bombing in 1945 by selected students and an interpretative dance by Vian Pelegrin of grade 12 St. Benedict of Nursia.

The Entrance of Colors was led by the Malatean Scouts, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The Wreath Laying Ceremony was lead by Ms. Marilou Lunar, school principal, and Ms. Evelyn Generosa, Assistant to the Cluster 8 Finance Officer followed by the Memorial Salute for the fallen victims and unsung heroes of the Remedios Hospital Bombing.

The program ended with a closing prayer led by Bernadette Ojo and the singing of the Malate Hymn.

It was in late 2019 up to early 2020, with the initiative of Mr. Matthew Westfall, when the remains of the victims and the unsung heroes of the war were exhumed from the grounds of MCS. It was also in that year when the school finally took the initiative to commemorate their sacrifice during the time of the war.

Following that morning, a prayer service and mass presided over by Father Elipidio "Boy" Biliran was held in the school chapel.
