How do I know which math class to take?
Current math teachers will talk to students and parents about the "suggested next course." If students and parents have questions, they should contact their teacher.
What is the difference between honors courses and on-level courses?
What is the difference between honors courses and on-level courses?
Honors courses are taught at an accelerated pace and include more depth, rigor, and breadth of topics when compared to the on-level courses.
If a student drops from an honors class to an on-level class, can they ever move up to an honors class in future years?

Wootton recognizes that students' math maturity/skills develop at different rates. If a student struggles in an honors class, they may drop to an on-level class to master the material and regain confidence. If a student excels in the on-level class, they may request to move back to an honors class the following semester.

Yes. If a student is excelling in an on-level class, they may request a move to an honors class. Students who earn an A for a semester in an on-level class should consider moving to an honors class the following semester. Parents and students should contact their counselors if they are considering this move.
