Summer School 2025 focuses primarily on our high school students who need to earn credits towards graduation. Both In-person and Virtual High School Summer School Programs will be offered this year. Additional opportunities for non-credit courses may be available at local high schools. More information is available below. Registration for students in non-public schools will open on May 1, 2025. A registration form will be available at that time.
We tried breaking down all the important information in each section. You may register up to a maximum 4 Course Selections. Please speak with your school counselor to learn about the various formats of instruction.

In Person Experience:
Students attend in-person for each day of the session.
Each day of class will cover the same volume of work that students during the year cover in approximately 1 week, so attendance is absolutely essential.
Classes begin at 8:00 am and end at 12:30 pm
Biology BX and NSL BX can only be taken by students graduation in the class of 2027 or later, and those students must also take the summer state test for their grade to be record

Virtual Experience
Students will be required to attend eight, one hour fifteen-minute virtual, synchronous instructional sessions per session, for a total of 10 synchronous hours.
Students should plan to spend between 30 and 40 additional hours per session completing asynchronous work in each course.
Asynchronous work will be completed in one of two platforms:

Health, technology courses
Edmentum
Cost of Attendance
Students who are taking courses for original credit and students retaking courses to improve original grade earned will have to pay tuition.
Students retaking required graduation courses for credit recovery, to replace a failing grade, will not have to pay
School Cash Online is the preferred payment method
A 4% service fee, reflected in the costs above, is added to each invoice
School counselors will register the students. Parents/caregivers will receive an invoice through School Cash Online with payment instructions.
Parents and caregivers who are not registered with School Cash Online will receive a direct link to pay.
Parents and caregivers can make in-person payments for summer school, cash or money order only (exact amount only),
CESC, 850 Hungerford Dr., Rockville, MD 20850.
The last day to make in-person payments is Monday, June 20th from 9:00am - 3:00pm for Session 1 and July 12th from 9:00am - 3:00pm for Session 2.
Payments must be received 10 days before the first class meeting, or students will not be enrolled in course.
Full or partial refunds may be made for students who attend class for the first 5 days of a session or less. A parent/guardian must request the refund prior to the refund deadline (Session 1: July 3; Session 2: July 24).

If you are eligible for a Fee Waiver, please click on this link to download the form. The form needs to be signed and submitted to your student's school counselor. We also have printed copies available in the Counseling Office as well.
Please note the following when registering:
Biology B and NSL B can only be taken by students graduation in the class of 2027 or later, and those students must also take the summer state test for their grade to be recorded.
Hon Health Education A and Hon Health Education B may not be taken in the same session. Students may take Hon Health Education A in session 1 and Hon Health Education B in session 2.
English, World Language, and state-tested subjects (Algebra 1, Biology, and NSL) may not be taken for original credit.
Rising 9th graders may only take courses in the following contents:
Health
Technology
Fine Arts
Math–with express approval from student’s middle school math team
