2024 NAACP Scholarship Award

The Montgomery County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will award $1,000 scholarships to students residing in Montgomery County. The scholarships will be presented at the Annual Freedom Fund Gala on Sunday, May 19, 2024 which will be held at Martins Crosswinds, Greenbelt, Maryland. The Freedom Fund Dinner begins promptly at 2:00pm.

2024-2025 Earl Woods Scholarship

The Earl Woods Scholar Program was created in 2006 to honor the vision and spirit of Earl Woods, Tiger’s father, and mentor, to continue his legacy of caring and sharing. Once selected, our scholars receive continued guidance throughout college with mentorship, personal and professional development workshops, and internship placement assistance to ensure our scholars succeed and graduate with their bachelor’s degree.

 

The scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors, Class of 2024, in select schools in the DMV area with a minimum 3.0 GPA who have plans to enroll full-time in an accredited four-year university in the United States in the upcoming academic year. Successful candidates will be selected based on academic achievement, demonstrated financial need, and a proven commitment to community service.

 

Our application is now online. This provides a general overview of the scholar program, eligibility requirements and documents to gather before starting the application. Students will also find the link to the application and can click on “Apply Today” or use the QR code to apply. The application is due by March 12, 2024.

 

Selected recipients will receive a scholarship of up to $5,000 (renewable for up to four years) and will be provided with holistic student support throughout their college career. Finalists will need to be available for an in-person interview in April 2024. Recipients will be announced in May.


Lavinia engle scholarship fund

This Lavinia Engle Scholarship Fund was established in 1980 to honor the memory of suffragist and public servant Lavinia Engle by assisting women in attaining a college education. This gran are for one year (renewable) and range in size from $500 to $3,500.
