Thinking about going to college? Not sure where to go or where to start?
Your best resource is to meet with your College/Career Information Coordinator. They will help you get organized, guide you through this process, and answer any questions you may have. Reminder to check each school’s application requirements as you prepare!
Application Form - Common App, School-specific application, Common Black App, etc.
Essay or writing sample - start early! Your chance to express yourself in writing. If possible, have an adult or English teacher review for editing.
Letters of Recommendation - from your counselor and your teacher(s)
Test Scores - students send directly to schools via SAT (College Board) & ACT
Check to see if schools of interest are test-optional for this fall
Fee or Fee Waiver Form (if you qualify) - check with your counselor; students on FARMS typically qualify for fee waivers.
Be on the lookout for fee waiver codes! Some schools offer application fee waivers at certain times of the year regardless of financial status. See your counselor or CCIC for more information.

Coalition for Access, Affordability, and Success
www.coalitionforcollegeaccess.org - The Coalition has developed a free platform of online tools to streamline the experience of applying to college. The initial iteration of the platform—including applications for admission to Coalition schools—is now available for students in high school. The Coalition also offers fee waiver to low-income students.
NCAA Eligibility
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse, located in Iowa City, Iowa, handles registration to determine a student’s initial eligibility to play sports at a Division I or Division II college or university. Seniors are encouraged to register with the Clearinghouse online at: https://web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3/

When signing up for the SAT/ACT, request test scores to be sent to the NCAA eligibility center (using the code is 9999).
There is a fee for registering with the Clearinghouse. Fee waivers are available to all students who have received an SAT or ACT fee waiver.
The Clearinghouse customer service telephone number is 877-262-1492; representatives are available from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. Fax Number 317-968-5100.
Please be sure that the high school registrar sends your transcript to the NCAA Clearinghouse for processing.
