Career Education provides students with opportunities to learn about their interests, to become aware and appreciate a range of careers, and to develop decision-making, job-seeking, and job-keeping skills. Naviance is used for both Career and College planning. Grade 10 will do Career Interest Profiler and Career Cluster Finder Survey with Counseling Staff in the Spring. Grade 11 will learn how to search for and research colleges online.

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery.
Information and practice questions for the ASVAB can be found here. This is a free multi-aptitude test battery that allows students to identify different abilities and to compare test performance to that of other students at their grade level (recommended for Gr 11 & 12). The ASVAB is administered at Springbrook in mid-November each school year. Sign up in the Springbrook Career Center at least one week in advance. ASVAB scores will be interpreted about two weeks after taking the test.

Personality Inventory - A personality inventory is a self-assessment tool that career counselors and other career development professionals use to help people learn about their personality types. It reveals information about individuals' social traits, motivations, strengths and weaknesses, and attitudes.

Career Planning
Not sure of what you want to do after high school to earn a living or what to major in when you get to college ? Are you weighing going to college vs. entering the world of work? We know that these are not easy questions to answer and some people spend many years doing this type of self-exploration. Your College/Career Information Coordinator can assist you through this process. They will help you get organized, guide you through this process, and answer any questions you may have.
Regardless of your situation, doing some research can be extremely helpful. Many of these sites can give you insight on what it takes to become a professional, expected growth of a profession in the coming years, expected range of earnings, and more.
