On Jan. 7, Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after trying to drive away during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid. Tricia McLaughlin, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson, described Good as a "violent rioter" who was "blocking" ICE officers by using her car to attempt to run over an officer.

On Sunday, Dec. 13, a shooting occurred at Brown University, where 40 rounds were shot, killing two and injuring nine others. The victims were identified as 19-year-old Ella Cook of Alabama and 18-year-old Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov of Virginia. The shooting occurred at the university’s Barus and Holley Engineering building, where students were studying for finals.

At the start of the 2024-2025 school year, MCPS added doors to school bathrooms, citing safety reasons. While the doors are important in case of an emergency, Einstein has started locking them, limiting student access to the bathrooms.

The beginning of this school year saw many policy changes, one being “bell to bell, no cell.” What this policy means is that cell phones are only to be used before or after class, not during. Some students don’t like this change, but it is necessary. Cell phones can be really distracting, which can negatively impact a student’s grades.

Football season is back, and with it, @steinstool, an anonymous student-run Instagram account mimicking the style of Barstool Sports for the Einstein community. @steinstool’s purpose is to promote school spirit and sports games at Einstein, especially football and “Friday Night Lights” culture. However, concerns have been raised about their choices and methods this year.

Einstein Girls Cross Country claimed their first-ever division title after a narrow win against Rockville, 27-30.
During their undefeated season, the Titans bested the likes of Blake, Northwood, and Magruder. This win makes them the only undefeated girls team in the division, with a record of 4-0. This historic victory is the first division championship in Einstein Girls Cross Country history.
