May 11 2026Dayton James Webber, a 27-year-old professional cornhole player and quadruple amputee, was arrested and charged as a fugitive in Albemarle County, Virginia. He is being accused of shooting a man in the front seat of his car during an argument on March 22. The shooting took place in La Plata, Maryland, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s office.
Witnesses, who were in the backseat of the car driven by Webber, claim they saw Webber shoot his long-time friend, Bradrick Wells. As Webber pulled over, he asked the backseat passengers to help pull the victim out of the car.
The argument was apparently caused by one of Well’s friends robbing Webber. Webber was allegedly upset that Wells was still friends with the thief who stole his gun.
After the passengers refused and left, they claimed Webber fled with the victim still in the car. Around two hours later, a Charlotte Hall, Maryland resident reported a body in a yard, according to the sheriff’s office. Responders identified the body as Wells, pronouncing him dead at the scene.
Webber’s car was located 100 miles away in Charlottesville, Virginia. The search was assisted by the Albemarle County Police Department. The department released a separate statement, in which they stated that one of its officers spotted Webber’s vehicle at a gas station and used surveillance footage to track him down.
Webber was arrested at a hospital, where he was seeking treatment for a medical issue. He was charged as a fugitive from justice and is being charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and other related charges.
