Cell phones, personal mobile devices (PMDs), and accessories interfere with students’ ability to focus on instruction and build meaningful relationships with their peers.
Cell phones/PMDs must remain off and away all day; from the time students enter school building to the time the dismissal bell rings. All students of Lakelands Park Middle School are not to have a personal mobile device in sight or turned on.
The term PMDs includes:
Cell Phones
IPads
Smart Watches of any kind
Personal Computers
AirPods/Any Wireless Headphones
Wired Headphones (not being used for classroom instruction)
1st Violation
A reminder of PMD expectations by a staff member.
2nd Violation
Warning - Email home by any staff member.
3rd Violation
The device is confiscated and turned over to the main office by any staff member (email home). The student can pick it up at the end of the school day.
4th Violation
The device is confiscated by admin/security (email home). Parents/caregivers are contacted to pick up the device at the end of the school day.
5th Violation
The ACT Team (admin, counselors, and TLs) is notified. A PMD plan for the student will be established by the ACT team. The plan may include a ban of the device from school.
We discourage sending any expensive cell phones or other devices to school. LPMS and MCPS assume no responsibility or liability for loss, theft, or damage to a device.
