At Lakelands, we are focusing on attendance and punctuality because learning is what school is all about. When students miss class time—especially the important opening minutes—they miss instruction that is critical for success. We want to partner with parents and caregivers to ensure every student’s learning time is maximized.
Unexcused Tardy Definition: A student is considered tardy if they are not inside their classroom when the bell rings without a valid pass.
Verbal warning/conversation with the student.
3rd-4th Unexcused Tardy to class
Lunch Reflection with grade-level team leaders. Teacher will contact Parent/Caregiver.
5th+ Unexcused Tardy to class
Student will receive after-school detention with an administrator and Parent/Caretaker will be contacted. If a student does not attend assigned after-school detention or for continued tardies beyond 5, a parent conference will be requested to create an action plan for on-time arrival.
Periodically, staff will check locations of students. Anyone out of class without a required pass will also receive a reminder (1st time), lunch reflection (2nd & 3rd), after-school detention (4th +)
