The 2025-2026 MCPS Student Expectations Lessons are available on Canvas for students to access. Students must fully complete both modules to earn 3 SSL hours.
MCPS National History Day (March 7, 2026, 8:00am - 2:00pm) - For MCPS Students 18+ - MCPS is looking for HS students 18+ to judge student projects at the National History Day County Competition on Saturday, March 7, 2026! Students will receive 6 SSL hours and lunch on the day of the event. To learn more, please visit this link.
Choose Respect Montgomery - RespectFest - March 8-15, 2026
March 8-15, 2026 (virtual/online) - Middle school and high school students will have the opportunity to earn up to 5 SSL hours for actively participating in online activities and virtual workshops centered on dating violence and prevention!
March 15, 2026, 1-4 PM - Wheaton Community Recreation Center (in-person) - Middle school and high school students will have the opportunity to earn up to 3 SSL hours for attending this in-person festival focused on spreading awareness about dating violence and prevention! Registration will occur on-site.

The Keeping It Safe Video Contest (Deadline: March 31, 2026) is now open! Students may earn 5 SSL hours for quality video submissions about the risks and dangers of under 21 alcohol use. Interested students may view the contest rules and additional information at this website.
Delegate Pam Queen’s Living Organ Donor Video Contest (Deadline: March 31, 2026) is now open! Students may earn 10 SSL hours for quality video submissions promoting the importance of living organ donations. Interested students may view the contest rules and additional information at this website.
Leadership Academy for Social Justice Fair (April 11, 2026, 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.) - Join us for the LASJ Social Justice Fair! Interact with social justice speakers and organizations on a variety of topics, including criminal justice reform, women’s rights, environmental justice, racial justice, and so much more! High School Student Election Workers Needed (Deadline: June 2, 2026) - The Montgomery County Board of Elections seeks students ages 16+ to register to vote and serve as a student election worker! To learn more, please visit this link.
Spring Knolls Volunteers Needed for Touch Truck Day on April 15 (8am to 12:30pm) - Invitation Flyer
The event includes 12 public service trucks, carnival style games, sensory play stations and food trucks. Spring Knolls is looking for student volunteers that can help them in the following roles: 1. Set up 2. Manage activity/game stations 3. Guard access points 4. Clean up
PLEASE NOTE -- ALL students must earn 75 SSL hours to graduate. Students who were previously told that their individual SSL requirement was reduced to fewer than 75 SSL hours should be made aware that they now need to earn a total of 75 SSL hours (with the included waiver).
