Focus on getting good grades.

Keep track of academics and athletic awards, extracurricular accomplishments, and community service hours and awards. Scan the records and save it in your computer/cloud for easy access.
Get familiar with different colleges that match your requirements, budget, and career path.
Put thought into your summer work. Start thinking about how your summer work may look on a college application and resume. Seek out work, volunteer or internship opportunities that highlight interests and display your willingness to learn.
Keep learning all summer if possible. Summer community college or adult-education classes are a great way to explore new interests or reinforce your current interests. Check with your school counselor to see what's available for you. Or if you rather, find some online free courses to increase your current experiences on a topic you like.
Do some personal projects that can stand out in your college application.
