Start reviewing Colleges: Start to actively learn more about the schools you are interested in. Due to COVID-19, many schools are doing a "Virtual School Visit." Click here and here to check some virtual school tours. You can also go to a specific college website and check if they offer online tours of the school or virtual Q&As.
Start thinking about Financial Aid: Have a discussion with your parents or guardian about what they think they can afford. Start researching scholarships and when you can apply. Click here to check our scholarship database and our financial aid section.
Organize your spring testing schedule: Find out registration deadlines and the exact dates and times of important tests like the ACT, SAT, and others.
Take part in extracurricular activities: Colleges are looking for students who participate in more than just school work. Especially if they show constant involvement or leadership roles. Moreover, you can develop your passion outside school and make an extracurricular activity from it.
Start researching local colleges: Even if you aren't interested in applying to these schools, you can get to know the differences between them and get a feel for what you like and dislike.

Set Up Your Senior Class Schedule: Meet with your counselor and review possible honors and AP classes. Colleges pay attention to senior year courses and grades, so set yourself up to stand out.
Reach Out To Recommendation Letters: You will need recommendation letters when you apply to schools in the fall. Contacting those teachers, coaches, or mentors you want to ask now for recommendation letters. By doing it now, you will give them time to prepare.
Put Thought Into Your Summer Work: Seek out work, volunteer, or internship opportunities that highlight interests, demonstrate your willingness to learn, and your passion.
Visit The Colleges Your Are Seriously Considering: Go to your top five choices, if possible, and learn as much as you can by taking a campus tour (probably virtual due to COVID-19).
Take Summer Classes: Whether you are taking summer classes through a local community organization or at an accredited college, you can enhance your transcript and your chances of getting into a competitive college. Talk to your counselor to find out what classes you should consider.
Start Working On College Applications: Request applications from the colleges to which you want to apply. Compose rough drafts of the essays and go over them with a teacher or a counselor.
