2026 Scholarships Available from Luther Memorial
Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, through the generosity of its parishioners, is offering two scholarships in 2026 to area high school and college students. The Luther Memorial Education Endowment Scholarship will award two $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors entering college, university, or technical school in the fall of 2026; or to any student already enrolled in a higher education program. One scholarship is for any student who is a member of an ELCA Lutheran congregation; the other is for any BIPOC (Black, Indigenous Person of Color) student in the Blacksburg community. Funds will be awarded in June, payable directly to the student’s learning institution.
Scholarship applications may be downloaded on the Luther Memorial website, www.lmlc.org. Applications should be printed, completed and submitted by US mail to the address on the application, by the May 1st, 2026 deadline. Reverend Monica Weber, pastor at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, says “The generosity of our parishioners makes these scholarships possible. Scholarships offer the recipient the opportunity to earn an education they might not otherwise have access to, especially in light of federal funding changes and cuts. We encourage all students in the Blacksburg community to apply."

Radford University Nursing Impact Scholarship
In response to the critical nationwide nursing shortage, Radford University is excited to announce the new Nursing Impact Scholarship for incoming students. We are still accepting applications for fall 2026. New freshman applicants must apply by May 1 and meet direct admission requirements to receive the Nursing Impact Scholarship:
Minimum 3.5 weighted high school GPA.
Successful completion of Algebra II, and either Biology & Chemistry OR Anatomy & Physiology.
Through this scholarship, Radford University aims to support and empower the next generation of nurses, helping to ensure quality care for communities now and in the future.

Blacksburg Athletic Club Scholarship
We award a scholarship to one male and one female athlete. Please use the following pdf application to complete everything. Everything needs to be submitted to the BAC's email address as a pdf and all together. The email address is listed on the application form. Please have all letters of recommendations sent to: bhsathleticclub@gmail.com. Please include in the subject line the name of the student the letter of recommendation is referring to. Completed applications must be submitted by May 6, 2026. Any applications sent after that will not be accepted. Any applications submitted and do not include all the requirements will not be accepted.

MCEA Scholarship for Education
Only current MCPS graduating seniors are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
A scholarship of $375-$750 will be awarded by the Montgomery County Education Association to the selected applicant(s) who are pursuing a career in education.

A letter of recommendation from an educator must be included in the application.
