The Centennial Scholars Program (CSP) is a scholarship that provides financial assistance and a multi-level academic support network for Pell Grant eligible students. Students-take advantage of this opportunity. It has the potential to be life changing.

Granville P. Meade Scholarship
The Granville P. Meade Scholarship provides financial assistance to students who have achieved academically, but who are financially unable to attend college. The Granville P. Meade fund provides scholarship awards to worthy and financially disadvantaged Virginia high school seniors to attend one of Virginia's public or private colleges or universities.
Principals of all public and nonpublic senior high schools are requested to assist in making students aware of the scholarship opportunity. In the past year, each scholarship was in the amount of $2,000 per year for four years, provided the student continues to meet the scholarship requirements.

Radford University Donor-Funded Scholarships
In addition to federal, state and merit aid, Radford University will include donor-funded scholarships in a student's financial aid package. Roanoke Chapter of Girl Friends Scholarship
The Roanoke Chapter of The Girl Friends, Inc. is part of a national organization of approximately 1800 professional women in forty-nine (49) chapters across the United States. The mission of the organization is to exhibit friendship through networking projects across America and to support community, cultural, and educational agendas. The Girl Friends, one of the oldest organizations of African American women in the United States, was founded in 1927 in New York during the creative period of the Harlem Renaissance.
Attached is information on the three (3) scholarships that are being offered to high-achieving students in need of financial assistance to attend college. The scholarship is offered to students from the following areas - Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Lynchburg, Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Botetourt, and Salem.
Below is a summary of each scholarship.
1. The Girl Friends Memorial Scholarship is to assist a student at a community college or a four-year accredited institution. The $750.00 scholarship will assist a student with the cost of tuition, books and/or other mandatory fees. The application (fillable form) should be completed online and emailed to thelmahaynesworth@gmail.com . Handwritten applications will not be accepted.
2. The $1,000.00 Roanoke Chapter’s Girl Friends Scholarship is to assist a student who plans to attend an accredited four (4) year college or university with the cost of tuition and/or fees. The application (fillable form) should be completed online and emailed to elegantdst17@gmail.com. Handwritten applications will not be accepted.
3. The National $1,000.00 – $1,500.00 Girl Friend Fund Scholarship is for a high school senior that has been accepted to a four-year institution. This award is renewable for up to four years, provided applicable academic requirements are met by the scholar. The application should be completed online (fillable form) and emailed to samcy@aol.com. Handwritten applications will not be accepted.
Scholarship eligibility requirements are detailed on each application. Attached are the detailed scholarship applications to be disseminated to eligible students. Please announce the scholarships and distribute the materials in accordance with your school’s policies.

MAOP Undergraduate Scholarship (UGS) Program
The MAOP Undergraduate Scholars Program supports high-achieving Virginia residents with scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,000. Beyond financial assistance, the program provides personalized support through one-on-one meetings each semester, helping students navigate the transition from high school to college—and later from college to graduate school or professional careers.
UGS scholars also benefit from exclusive workshops, events, and networking opportunities designed to foster academic success and personal growth.
You must be a Virginia resident
For current VT students, you must have cumulative GPA of a 2.5 or higher
You must have unmet financial need. A completed FAFSA will determine your financial eligibility for the MAOP UGS Scholarship
You will need your unofficial high school or college transcripts to upload.

VHSL Scholarship Opportunities
The Virginia High School League (VHSL), in partnership with its corporate sponsors, offers scholarships for college bound seniors. Through these scholarships, the VHSL is committed to supporting and investing in Virginia’s youth. Students must be nominated by their school.

VHSL Achievement Award: The VHSL Foundation Achievement Award, a $2,000 scholarship funded and awarded annually by the VHSL Foundation, recognizes 19 senior scholar-athletes and scholar-activity participants who have excelled in the classroom and athletic and academic activities and will attend a post-secondary institution. Each VHSL member school may nominate two students per category for a total of 8 applications. Please speak with your school counselor and/or college and career specialist to be considered for this scholarship.
Savedge Scholarship Award: Each year the VHSL awards $1,00 to one college-bound senior who has participated and excelled in school publications (magazine, newsmagazine, newspaper and yearbook), and for at least two years has demonstrated outstanding personal qualities such as leadership, writing, proficiency, design aptitude, creativity, teamwork and character.
Vito Perriello Citizenship Award: Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded during the school year, honoring student-participants who demonstrate outstanding traits of citizenship in their high school career. Only students graduating from a VHSL member school will be eligible for these awards. Each VHSL member school may nominate one student. Students must have previously participated in one or more VHSL activities which can include serving as an athletic training student aide (ATSA) with a Virginia licensed athletic trainer within that school to be eligible for the award.

What is Bank Day?
The Virginia General Assembly declared the third Tuesday in March as Bank Day back in 1991. This program gives high school seniors a behind-the-scenes look at banking, financial services, and career paths—while showing how banks strengthen their communities.
After participating, students write an essay about what they learned. Fourteen scholarships totaling $28,500 will be awarded based on these essays!

6 Honorable Mentions: $1,000 each
6 Regional Winners: $2,500 each
Statewide Runner-Up: $5,000 total
Statewide Winner: $7,500 total
How It Works:
Students must be Virginia high school seniors with a 3.0+ GPA.

First Bank and Trust Company will host students on March 18th , 2026 from 10am to 2pm during the school day for an interactive session about banking and community impact. Student attendance is required for scholarship eligibility.
Students will also receive access to VBA’s Bank Day Resource Webpage in March to help them prepare their essays.
