The ACT Tessera was given in Fall 2018. The results were used to help MMS Counselors conduct small group and individual workshops relating to the SEL skills.
Pack Time is a redesign initiative designed to build positive relationships between students and teachers. Every first and last day each week, the entire student body meets in small groups with a teacher for the first 15 minutes of the day. ALL students will be receiving Tier I support in regards to Tessera Constructs.
This is a whole school researched based curriculum that addresses the social emotional needs of our students and staff. Flip Flippen, the founder, states “If you have a student’s heart, you have their mind.” The purpose of Capturing Kids Hearts is to address the social emotional needs of the students and the adults in a school community. Capturing kids hearts has proven to improve attendance, reduce school discipline and bullying, increase academic performance, increase graduation rates, and increase teacher satisfaction. A component of Capturing Kids hearts is a class called Teen Leadership. This class lends itself to build the leadership capacity of students in the areas of personal responsibility, self-expression, and making good decisions when problems arise.
