MISSION STATEMENT

The Cardiovascular Fellowship Program at McLaren Greater Lansing is committed to developing future leaders in cardiovascular medicine. Consistent with ACGME Institutional and Program requirements and McLaren Health Care Corporation’s mission, we strive to educate fellows in the comprehensive assessment and management of cardiovascular disease processes. Our program achieves this by providing an essential foundation for learning and promoting an inquiry of the cardiovascular disease processes throughout the three-year fellowship program. The program will educate physicians in the broad field of cardiovascular disease with direct patient contact through clinical training in the inpatient and outpatient settings and by promoting clinical research. The clinical setting exposes them to the diverse population of the Mid-Michigan/Greater Lansing community. Fellows are encouraged and trained to cultivate self-directed learning, leading to the development of competent physicians.

Quality outcomes and cost awareness is incorporated into training for best valued healthcare practices. A balance between training, service, and research is maintained while offering comprehensive educational programs both in-house and at participating affiliated teaching institutions. Academic activities, quality improvement participation, and original research is a requirement of the program to provide exceptional cardiovascular care to the population of the Mid-Michigan/Greater Lansing community.
