Research for OB/GYN Residency at McLaren Greater Lansing

All residents are required to complete a research project as noted within the program requirements. Residents are required to present their research project/poster presentation at a national or regional meeting. It is mandatory for MGL residents to present at MSUCOM/SCS research program in December of the senior year. It is strongly urged that the resident present at the spring ACOOG meeting (note the submission deadline noted on the ACOOG website and the MSUSCOM/SCS website). Additionally, it is also strongly recommended that the resident submit their presentation at any available local or regional program that allows for this venue such as the Mid-Michigan Regional Research Day.

The second year resident is required to complete the online research modules provided through MSUCOM-SCS and to focus on his/her project and present to the IRB during this year.

The fourth year resident will complete the required research project during this year. It is anticipated that each resident will present his or her research/poster at the MSUCOM/SCS research day in December of the fourth year, as well as at the annual ACOOG meeting (when possible), which occurs in the spring of each year.

A research project or poster presentation requires a great deal of time and effort. Assistance is available through MSUCOM/SCS, as well as through the Medical Education Department. Assistance in proper preparation of the poster presentation is also available.
