Salma Sosa
Hello my name is Salma Sosa I graduated from MCHS in 2017. A path I pursued after graduating is college.
I am living now in Queens, New York City as a program coordinator with the Office of School Performance at NYC public schools and the Engagement Lead for Insight. I help manage projects, communications, resources, and support that help schools and district teams across New York City.
MY ACHIEVEMENTS
Since graduating from Middle College High School, I have built a career in public education and now work at the central office of NYC Public Schools. As a program Coordinator with the Office of School Performance.
MY ADVICE
A piece of advice that I would like to share for those who arre currently in MCHS is to take advantage of the opportunities you have and to not feel like you need to have your futute figured out already.
Ask questions, try new things, build healthy relationships,
and pay attention to what you enjoy and what you are naturally good at.
MY FAVORITE
One of my favorite things about Middle College was the tight-knit community. It created the support, encouragement, and confidence students need to grow, stay curious, and try new things. It felt like a village where people looked out for one another.
MCHS is dedicated to key strategic pillars for student success:
Building Future Travelers and Leaders: We prepare our graduates to navigate complex global landscapes, equipped with critical thinking, effective communication, and collaborative skills that are essential for leadership in any field.
Cultivating Responsible Citizens: Through a commitment to social-emotional learning (SEL) and community engagement, we instill in our students a strong sense of responsibility, empathy, and a desire to contribute positively to their communities and the world.
Ensuring Unmatched Head Starts: Our Early College program, coupled with the individualized support of our Teacher Counselor model, provides our students with an unparalleled advantage, preparing them to enter four-year universities as sophomores or juniors, or even with an Associate Degree, giving them a significant head start on their chosen career paths.
Fostering Initiative and Self-Efficacy: We empower students to take ownership of their learning and personal growth, encouraging independent thinking, problem-solving, and a proactive approach to their academic and career trajectories.
