Anthony Jakubauskas
Hello, my name is Anthony and I graduated from Middle College in 2021. After graduating in June of 2021, I continued attending LaGuardia Community College as a fifth year student for just one semester and completed my associates degree in December 2021. Currently, I am a nurse who is focused on ensuring that adequate care is given equally to all.
My favorite time at Middle College was actually right before the end of 2019. This was when COVID was first coming about. For lack of better words, the vibes at school were just different. It felt like a turning point for a lot of us. We were beginning to behaviorally mature and do different things. Personally, I look back on this time with love, as we were a very tight knit class. One of my favorite memories around this time was around right before Christmas break - we were filming so many TikTok's with classmates as well as a cameo from Chevonne!
I have since completed my Licensed Practical Nursing education and am in school right now to get my Registered Nursing license! I have been working since January 2026 and love what I do! I also participated in my nursing club as club secretary.
Some people are going to know what they want to do with their life really early, some will not. You may feel like you are out of place, or not sure what you may want to do with your life, and that is OKAY! I promise that this stage of your life is for figuring out who you are and what you enjoy. You begin to develop a true moral and ethical compass and you begin to build your life around that. The biggest piece of advice I can say to everyone is learn. Learning is always productive.
Specially to my LGTBQ+ friends, I want to say that, as one of the only open students in my grade at the time, do not let anxiety or fear pressure you to do anything. I strongly want to emphasize that it is important that you do not give up on yourself, or hide who you are. You have an entire lifetime to figure things out, but for now, you have a great support system of teachers at Middle College and I am entirely thankful to them.
PS. Please take full advantage of the free college education Middle College provides for free. It has helped me tremendously in pre-requisite courses for these nursing programs!
