Some Messages From Your Teachers

From Dr. Briddell (and the Briddell Family)

I’m working from a home office, almost entirely on Zoom.

I have at least three calls with the Public Health Department and Dane County Emergency Management services each week. That’s down from daily calls previously. The area superintendents have a weekly meeting as well to wrap up the week and share our thinking on planning next steps for our district. The Administrative Council (District Leadership team) meets twice each week to support teachers and students, and to plan as best as we can for the summer and fall.

We’ve been hiking the Ice Age Trail. It’s been nice to get out of the house and into the woods.

I miss you all so much! I miss talking to you and laughing together in class. I miss your funny stories. I miss leaving the house. I'm not a very good elementary school teacher - which I'm doing with my daughters. I am getting a chance to paint a lot, you can see my April art pictured. But as much as I'm enjoying watching netflix and staying up late, I would much rather spend my days with you.

From Ms. Guenther

We have been exploring the outdoors by biking and hiking every day and of course have all been zooming like crazy!

I really miss seeing all of our wonderful students and staff. Online, just isn't the same! Please contact me at any time if there is anything I can help with!

Hi Students, especially my L-Z crew! I miss seeing all of you, and I especially miss lunch duty, when I was able to hang out with 300 of you at once! I hope you are all hanging in there, I know it's tough and we are sick of it. If you are struggling or need to talk, please reach out. I've been spending a lot of time with my son, baking, and watching Netflix. I cannot wait to see you all soon!

From Mr. Hawn

I miss it all. I miss the joy in the classroom, the work in the labs, the connections with my teaching peers. But most of all I miss the students. The weird, crazy, goofy things they say and do. The enthusiasm and wonder they bring. The energy and atmosphere of learning.

I hope you’re all well. I’m not naive enough to think a switch will magically flip and all will go back to “normal”, but I eagerly await the day I can see you all again.

Be safe. Be smart.

Hello from your District Nurse! I cannot tell you how much I miss all of you. My daily routine usually started with walking through the crowded cafeteria during breakfast, and I miss seeing and hearing all of you. I miss listening to early jazz band practice, I miss seeing you in the office for ibuprofen, ice packs and daily medications. I miss going to your sporting events, stopping by Spartan Manufacturing just to see what you are creating, and most of all I miss the ambient presence of all of your energy, creativity, and curiosity....

From Ms. Bird-Johnson

Hello students! I miss seeing your faces at school. I also miss coming to work everyday! It's really nice to be able to get out of the house sometimes, isn't it? I really hope you're doing OK and are reaching out if you need someone to talk to! We are here for you.

Like so many of us, I definitely have my moments lately where I feel pretty stir-crazy at home! I'm keeping busy with work (from home), taking care of my two kids (3 yrs old and 10 months), and our dog, Oliver, who is a 90 pound yellow lab. My husband and I decided we needed ONE MORE thing to keep us busy, so we adopted another dog! LOL! We went through the adoption agency Fetch Wisconsin, and found a perfect addition to our family! Her name is Maddie and she's a one year old terrier mix who is predominately pit bull. She was found as a stray in Indiana and was brought to WI to find her forever home. She's a sweetie but is learning her manners since she prefers to smother anyone she encounters with hugs and kisses.

Take care, everyone!

As an old school Chicago Bulls fan and a person who is missing sports, The Last Dance, is a must see during this time. I do wish they would have released the whole series so I could have binged watch it; however, it is now something I look forward to each Sunday. Scottie Pippen has always been my guy and this series solidified how undervalued he was to the organization. At the time, I was so mad at him for sitting out and refusing to play, but looking back at things, I totally understand it. And I was one of those Bulls Fans who did not appreciate the Bulls gaining one of the Bad Boys, especially Dennis Rodman! The relationship highlighted last night between him, Scottie, MJ and Phil Jackson is making me realize that maybe, I was wrong in my being so mad about Dennis as Bull. As much as I am loving the series, the players have aged which can only mean, so I have I!(sigh).

Hi! I've been doing a lot of crafts lately and getting creative. I recently ordered two needle felting kits on Etsy and can't wait to get started! I chose the sheep in particular because of a classic phrase from my favorite French children's book that I read every year with French 4, Le Petit Prince.

« Dessine-moi un mouton ! »

Well I'm about to felt two of them! I can send update photos when I start the projects. Hopefully they won't look too sickly or too old!
