Welcome to the 2024-2025 Art website for Morrison Academy Taipei!

My name is Elise Chen (Ms. Chen), and I'm excited to be teaching art this year at MAT! I'm looking forward to a great year of learning about and creating art with MAT students as we explore the beauty, order, and variety seen in God's creation. Use the links at the top of this page to connect with your child's art class and find out what we're learning about. You'll also be able to see some of the artwork that the students have produced.

God the Creator has made us in His own image with the desire and ability to create. By creating works of art students are able to use their hands, their minds, and their talents to create beauty, find meaning, tell stories, bless others, and worship God. In Elementary art classes students first learn the basic building blocks of artistic creation—color, line, shape, form, texture, value, and space—and learn skills and techniques to apply these concepts to a variety of mediums and subjects. Middle School students continue to develop their skills and nurture their creativity. Students explore increasingly advanced mediums and techniques to create art in new and interesting ways. They also work on developing proper craftsmanship and responsibility in the care of tools and materials. High School art classes are elective, and students continue advancing their skills with materials, concepts, and subjects, as well as having more freedom to explore and develop their own ideas and interests.

Open Art Studio

The art classroom is open and supervised on Tuesdays for grades 3 - 5 and Thursdays for grades K - 2 from 3:30-4:20. Students who don't have other commitments are welcome to come in and work on projects from art class, do their own artwork, and work on projects specially designed for the after-school group. Please check with the school office to sign your child up for after-school Art Studio.
