All students in grades K-5 have art class throughout the school year. Students in kindergarten through second grade come twice each week for 30 minutes. Third through fifth graders come once a week for 60 minutes. Elementary students learn to create art using a variety of tools and materials, and learn to identify and use the elements and principles of art. They create art that communicates their their ideas, tells stories, evokes emotions. They also learn to appreciate the work of others--their peers, artists from history, and the art of other cultures.
