one color self-portraits
Shape Figure
Kindergarten students have been busy in art class since school started in August. We first learned about drawing a self portrait using only one color, monochromatic coloring, students colored themselves using red crayons, red color pencils, red markers, and red oil pastels. Students practiced using scissors and explore using shapes to created a figure collage. Then we had a discussion about different types of 'lines', we drew straight lines, zigzag line, wavy line, castle line, etc. etc. Students painted the lines paper and turned it into a rainbow color line monster where they added eyes, teeth, and hair.
Line Explorations
Kindergarteners are in the process of making a hand-printed color mixing book using primary colors and their own hand prints. We started mixing red and yellow colors to create the secondary color orange.
