Course Description:
Unified art offers students with or without special needs the opportunity to showcase creative growth through making art. All students will create a variety of drawings, paintings, and sculptures. Students will be paired up to facilitate and create projects personally as well as helping others with special needs. If you are interested in this course, please speak with art or special education instructors as space is limited and teacher consent is required.
Student Leadership and Peer Collaboration:
This course is a great option for students considering a career in education. Students who exhibit strong leadership qualities may be placed as a table/team leader in the class. Some semesters(time and material permitting), student leaders have the opportunity to plan and lead a full class lesson.
Materials:
A goal of Unified Art is to expose students to a variety of materials and techniques. Projects may vary from semester to semester, but in the past we have used, pencil, chalk pastel, oil pastel, watercolor paint, watercolor pencils, acrylic paint, clay, and other sculptural materials.
