Eric Rutowski was hired as an art teacher at Mukwonago High School in 1993 after graduating from Carroll University. During his 30 year tenure he taught everything in the art department including drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, graphic design, and jewelry courses. Eric was an influential teacher who oversaw the growth, renovation, and expansion of the art department. His students were given space and time to explore ideas and express themselves. This gallery was created in his memory to continue sharing the art of MHS students.
Eric was an exceptional artist, largely with a focus on ceramics and photography. Beyond the gallery a few photographs of his ceramic work are displayed in the hallways near the art studios on the 1st floor. The patio outside the ceramic studio was his favorite space. In his honor is a bench created by the MHS Tech Ed teachers. The dedication reflects Eric use of humor and approach to teaching: "helping students learn more better."
