Second Grade students are encouraged to become familiar with the areas of the library media center and to take care of materials. Literature studies focus on fiction/nonfiction, folktales (Fairytales), and notable authors and artists.

Second Grade Course Competencies:

• • Describe how the everybody section is organized

  • Locate a book by a specific author within the everybody section

  • Define characteristics of fiction and nonfiction

  • Begin practicing guided inquiry research in small groups

  • Use graphic organizers

  • Identify various forms of literature

  • Show appropriate information in a visually pleasing product

  • Practice log-in procedures on all school-level technology. Independently logging into technology by the second semester.

Expectations:

• Listen and follow directions the first time you are asked.

• Show respect by using kind words and actions and taking care of the library's property.

• Be safe by keeping your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

• Participate.
