This hands-on course introduces students to guitar and ukulele in a fun, supportive environment. Designed for beginners and students with little or no experience, the class focuses on basic playing techniques, simple chords, strumming patterns, and reading chord charts. Students explore a variety of musical styles while learning to play both independently and with others. Emphasis is placed on building confidence, musicianship, and a love of making music through regular practice and group performance.
This course builds on foundational guitar and ukulele skills while remaining welcoming to new players. Students expand their technique through more advanced chords, strumming and picking patterns, and greater fluency with chord charts and basic notation. The class explores multiple musical styles and encourages collaboration through ensemble playing. Students continue developing confidence, musical independence, and creativity through performance, practice, and musical exploration in a supportive setting.
Digital Music Production (Grade 8) is a hands-on course where students create, record, and shape music using technology. Students will explore the basics of music production through beat-making, recording, editing, and mixing using iPads and personal computers. Along the way, students learn simple music theory concepts and how they connect to modern music styles.
Using a variety of music apps and digital audio workstations (DAWs), students will design sounds, build tracks with loops, remix existing music, and create original compositions. Collaboration and creativity are key parts of the class, with opportunities to share work and create music together. This course is perfect for students interested in making music with technology—no prior experience required.
