The Masconomet Regional High School Concert Band is our largest instrumental ensemble, dedicated to collaborative music-making and understanding composer and performer intent. Emphasizing musical growth and technical development within a positive, nurturing environment, we foster respect for music, the ensemble, and each other. Students explore a diverse repertoire of wind band music from various styles and composers, highlighting our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with concert performances scheduled throughout the year to showcase their progress. Ongoing performance and reflective assessments encourage students to set ambitious goals and exceed their own expectations. Participants are expected to practice regularly, attend sectionals and rehearsals, and perform at all required events. Students can also engage in state and regional festivals and potential national and international music experiences. Concert Band also participates in community events, such as the Memorial Day Parade, and invites students to join the Football Pep Band in the fall. In Concert Band, Honors, students will build upon the foundational skills developed in the standard Concert Band course while engaging with advanced instrumental techniques, including performing solo repertoire, leading sectionals, and collaborating in a chamber music ensemble during class. Enrollment requires an audition to demonstrate a commitment to higher musical standards and individual growth. Although private lessons with a qualified instructor are not mandatory, they are strongly encouraged to further refine skills. This course runs concurrently with Concert Band (CP), fostering an enriched environment where dedicated musicians can thrive and explore their passion for music at a deeper level.
