Welcome to the new Athletic Training website! NOTE: this is a work in progress. Exercise instruction videos are still being recorded and posted!
Meg first began working at Marlboro High School in the 2010-2011 school year. Prior to that, she was the athletic trainer for Our Lady of Lourdes High School for two school years. During her time working in the secondary school setting, Meg has also worked in various physical therapy clinics, as well as directly with local orthopedic physicians in their offices as a physician extender.
Meg graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelors of Science from SUNY Cortland in 2006, majoring in Athletic Training. After that, she was hired as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for James Madison University, where she earned her Master of Science in Nutrition & Physical Activity (focusing on exercise physiology) in 2008. During her graduate assistantship, Meg worked primarily in the Athletic Training Education Program, where she taught several classes/labs, and assisted the program director with an assortment of administrative duties. She also assisted in the NCAA Div I athletic program with event coverage, and pre-participation physicals. She has maintained her connection with teaching through Marist College, where she has taught several classes as an adjunct instructor, and works closely with students to gain clinical field experience hours at Marlboro.
Meg is also a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Meg grew up locally in Cornwall, NY, where she currently resides with her husband and her kids, Natalie and Jack.
I want to keep you healthy, playing the sports you love without injury. That is why I focus on injury prevention with athletes and coaches.
If you get hurt, my goal is to keep you participating as much as possible. I do not want to see you miss playing time! If I DO recommend that you rest, that is because I am trying to return you to better function to reduce long term playing time lost. Please do not be scared to bring an injury to my attention: I would much rather give you advice when the injury is minor (resulting in little to no time lost) rather than you wait until you can barely function to talk to me about it (resulting in more time lost... because I am not a magical wizard trained at Hogwarts to cast healing charms on your injuries).
I really strive to rehab your injuries to FIX the issue, rather than slapping a bandaid on there that will have you back in my office with additional injuries or flare ups on a regular basis. If you work hard and are compliant with your rehab, you will not only miss less playing time throughout the course of your athletic career, you will BECOME A BETTER, STRONGER, MORE PRODUCTIVE ATHLETE!
We are in this together. Remember, I was an athlete myself once upon a time!
The athletic trainer's role in the secondary setting spans from first aid and emergency response, to evaluation and treatment/rehabilitation of orthopedic conditions in an active population. Meg is also a liaison for communication between parents, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, coaches, and teachers. Athletic Training is an Allied Healthcare Profession recognized by the American Medical Association.

Marlboro Central School District has been awarded the NATA Safe Sports School Award by the National Athletic Trainers Association
October 2021.The Safe Sports School Award recognizes secondary schools around the country that take the crucial steps to keep their athletes free from injuries.
In order to achieve Safe Sports School Status, Athletic Programs are required to adhere to the following:
Create a positive athletic health care administrative system
Provide or coordinate per-participation physical examinations
Promote safe and appropriate practice and competition facilities
Plan for selection, fit function and proper maintenance of athletic equipment
Provide a permanent, appropriately equipped area to evaluate and treat injured athletes
Develop injury and illness prevention strategies, including protocols for environmental conditions
Provide or facilitate injury intervention
Create and rehearse venue-specific Emergency Action Plan
Provide or facilitate psycho-social consultation and nutritional counseling/education
Be sure athletes and parents are educated of the potential benefits and risks in sports as well as their responsibilities
Normally, students and staff can seek me out after school or during afternoon free-periods such as study hall. Athletes are usually seen "first-come, first-serve" basis. However, when there are time constraints, athletes who are travelling that day are seen first, and athletes who have already been held from activity due to injury are seen last, because they aren't rushing off to practice.
I work 5-7 days/week with the athletes, depending on how the sports schedule plays out each week. I am present on site for every home contest, and I travel with Varsity Football. Often times, I travel in the post season with our other sports teams. During the school year, I arrive at the school in early afternoon to treat athletes at the end of the day, prior to practices and games. I am present for the majority of practices, and available via phone call for consultations if not directly on site. I also schedule appointments with athletes outside of regular hours if the situation calls for it.
