Advertiser - a physical or legal entity interested in promoting its product or service.
Affiliate - an arbitrator or webmaster who acts as an executor. Namely, they attract traffic to the advertiser's offer, receiving a commission for it.
Manager - an employee of the advertising network who supports advertisers, webmasters, or performs other tasks in the system.
Offer - a proposal from the advertiser that affiliates can promote. An offer usually contains information about the promoted product or service, as well as the conditions that the attracted customers must meet. The system supports two types of offers:
S2S Offer - an offer in which data about the conversion is transmitted to the advertiser's server at the time of this conversion on the landing page.
API Offer - an offer in which data about the conversion is transmitted to the affiliate's server. After that, the affiliate independently transfers data about the conversions to the advertiser's server. Vertical - a group of related offers united by one theme.
Conversion - any target action that a customer must perform on the offer page for the affiliate to receive a reward.
Goal - a target for which the advertiser is willing to pay the affiliate.
Tracking URL - a link that a user clicks on from an affiliate's advertising campaign to the pre-landing or landing page of the advertiser. During the transition, the system determines whether to direct the user to the advertiser's landing page or to the traffic back, as well as passes the necessary parameters in the link and records the transition in the statistics. Preview URL - a direct link to the advertiser's landing page. Used for affiliates to preview the landing page. Clicks are not recorded in the statistics.
Landing - the offer page where the customer performs the target action.
Pre-Landing - an intermediate page that the customer visits after clicking on the ad before going to the landing page. The presence of a pre-landing is not mandatory.
Click - a user's click on the advertiser's tracking link.
Conversion - the user's completion of a target action on the advertiser's landing page.
Cap - a limit set by the advertiser on the number of conversions of a certain type.
Postback - a URL that the system calls when a conversion occurs. When this URL is called in the affiliate's tracking system, the presence of a conversion is recorded.
Traffickback - a URL to which all invalid traffic is redirected. For example, if only Android users are relevant for the advertiser, all iOS users will be redirected to the Traffickback URL. Payment type - the type of distribution of payment from the advertiser between the system and the affiliate. Currently supported:
CPA - the affiliate receives a fixed payment for each conversion. For example, $1 for each registration.
RevShare - the affiliate receives a fixed percentage of each payment from the advertiser. For example, 3% of the check for each sale.
CPL - the affiliate receives a fixed payment for each lead. For example, receiving an email or phone number from a potentially interested user.
Revenue - income received as a result of payment by the advertiser for user's completion of target actions.
Payout - the amount the affiliate receives for user's completion of target actions.
Gross Profit - gross profit. It is the difference between the income received from the advertiser and the payments to affiliates.
CR (Conversion rate) - the percentage of conversions on the offer relative to all clicks.
EPC (Earn Per Click) - the average profit that can be obtained from a click when buying traffic. It is calculated as income divided by the number of clicks.
EPL (Earn Per Lead) - the average profit that can be obtained from one lead. It is calculated as income divided by the number of leads.
OS - user's operating system.
Device - user's device.
Geo - user's country.
Pending - a conversion awaiting processing by the advertiser. For example, waiting for a call from a call center or payment from a customer.
Declined - a conversion rejected by the advertiser. Approved - a conversion confirmed by the advertiser.
Tracking URL - a link to which the affiliate will direct traffic. Depending on the OS, geo, and other parameters, the user will be redirected to the relevant landing page.
Within the Marksel system, API offers have properties and settings that allow not only sending and receiving conversions via API but also sending information about the same lead to multiple advertisers.
Here's the terminology related to this type of offer:
Lead: A potential customer who has completed a target action (filled out a form, registered, made an inquiry about a product) and provided their personal information.
Product: The advertiser's product or service that they want to sell through the service. Essentially, the product is an offer, but in the system's terms, a product can be part of an API offer, while an offer cannot.
Integration: Technical integration with the advertiser that allows the system to transmit conversion data to the advertiser and receive a response from them for each data transmission. In the response, the advertiser informs about the conversion status on their side.
Product Config: Code that is part of the integration. It contains data necessary for its correct operation. The config is the only part of the integration code that can be managed by a manager, thereby making minor changes to the integration if necessary.
User Session: Sending unique data obtained about the user during the affiliate's interaction with the API offer.
Flow: Rules according to which the system distributes traffic among the products added to the offer.
Monetization: Rules governing the sending of leads to products for additional traffic monetization.
Redirect Monetization: A type of additional monetization where the advertiser's landing page opens in the background for the user. In regular monetization, the landing page does not open.
Curl: A command-line tool used to transfer data to the advertiser's server.
Now, terminology related to distribution:
Distribution: It's the resend of leads previously received and sent to the advertiser. Distribution can be done either back to the same advertiser or to other advertisers. The affiliate is not involved in the distribution process.
Lead List: A list of leads for distribution.
