Central idea: Humans can explore their environment to understand the world around them.
Our trip to Bedgebury
Nixie: It was the best day ever!
Jack: I loved going on the bus the most.
Alfie: I saw golden leaves and I saw orange leaves.
Michael: I liked playing in the park. It was so fun!
Darell: "I liked exploring in nature with my friends."
We started our day by putting as many layers on as we could as we knew we were going to be outdoors for a long while. The children sensibly put high-vis jackets on and held hands with a partner to walk to the bus.
When reflecting, many children said that the bus journey was the most exciting part of the day. For some, it was the first time on a coach.
Throughout the day, children saw different trees, and different colours and discussed the world around them as they experienced it.
Following the school trip, the children have carefully thought about the order of events throughout the day and have drawn and written about it.
Ily: "First we held hands and walked with our hi-vis jackets on to the coach,"
Nancy: "Next when we got there we had a snack and toilet."
Henry: "Then we played on the shipwreck. I liked the feeling of the sand when I was walking."
Michelle: "Finally, we explored more and then it was home time."
The children used their knowledge of navigating around Bedgebury to consider the importance of maps to help us to find our way, we decided we should make our own maps to help others.
