Central idea: People communicate to share knowledge and experiences.
We have seen our inquiry transition from discussing emotions and what makes us feel happy, sad, calm, loved, angry and scared to understanding how art and music can communicate with an audience.
We have spent time appreciating music and discussing how it makes us feel before looking at the American artist, Jackson Pollock. Although some of us prefer the work of other artists, Jackson Pollock's work has certainly encouraged meaningful discussion about how we feel when looking at it. Our day of creating work like him was an absolute joy. The children enjoyed making their own paintbrushes and using similar techniques to Jackson Pollock when applying the paint to paper.
Our inquiry has now moved to Ghana, Africa. Here, the use of Adinkra patterns also communicates ideas and messages. We look forward to updating you on the printing of our T-shirts to communicate our own messages.
Reminders:
Please provide hats, gloves and warm coats. The weather is getting colder but we will continue to use outside spaces in our school.
