Central idea: People with different beliefs may struggle for rights and freedoms.
The children have settled into their new classrooms and learning environments and are enjoying our new unit of inquiry. Our first line of inquiry looked at the different rights and freedoms that people have, focusing on the rights of a child. We have just started our second line of inquiry which looks at the infringements of people's rights and freedoms.
In maths we have been busy looking at place value in numbers up to 1,000,000 and have just begun rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000.
In English, the children have written a diary entry as though they were Ahmet (a refugee from Syria) navigating his first day of a new British school. They have also written a set of instructions for a game that the book characters can play with Ahmet.
