Central idea: Migrants and explorers both influence, and are influenced by, the world around us.
Year 5 have been continuing their third line of inquiry, focusing on the significance of migrant groups in Britain. They have had the opportunity to plan, experiment and create their own pottery, inspired by Anglo-Saxons. Alongside this, Year 5 have been planning and writing their own debate, debating which migrant group has had the biggest impact on Britain. They have been gathering all their learning this module to work towards this end point project.
Year 5 have also been immersed in using Crumble, a computing programme. They spent the day practically programming motors and using the different components. Year 5 used this knowledge to plan their own moving fairground ride and then create it, using cardboard and the Crumble kit to assemble it.
Year 5 have completed a flashback narrative in Writing, which has been linked to our book 'Viking Boy'.
Within Maths, Year 5 have been looking at equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages. They have shown an increased confidence with their place value knowledge.
