Principal's Message
Welcome back! I hope you have all had a great summer. It has been wonderful this week to see all of the children and watch them settle into their new classes.
Our new Reception children started this week - I would like to extend a very warm welcome to them and their families to the Leigh Academy Marden Community. The children have had lots of fun this week getting to know each other, meeting their new teachers and settling into school life.
I would also like to welcome our new members of staff: Miss Beamish (Teacher in Juniper class), Mr Syred (Teacher in Magnolia class), Miss Henry (Teacher in Cedar class), Mrs Hodgkiss (TA in Year 2) and Mrs Willis (TA in Year 4). I am sure you will all join me in welcoming them to Marden.
This week, the children have worked very hard on their Sustainable Goals projects. They all showed an excellent knowledge of these goals and it was lovely to see how determined they were about wanting to make a difference.
I hope you all enjoy the weekend.
Mrs H Penning
Reminder: The gate closes at 8:45am and all adults need to be off site by this time.
Reminder: Parents are not permitted to enter the classrooms at the end of the day. If your child has forgotten something, please send them back in alone and wait for them outside on the playground.
Office Collections from Monday 8th September:
All children should be collected from the classroom at the end of the day unless an arrangement is in place with the senior leadership team, or they are in an after school club. We are unable to bring children to the office until after the rest of the children have been dismissed at the end of the day.

This handy parent guide will help you navigate Google Classroom. If your child does not know their password, please speak to their class teacher.
The PTA AGM is on Tuesday, 23rd September at 5:45pm.
We’d love to see as many parents as possible at the meeting. Most of the current committee members have children in Year 6, so without new volunteers, the PTA won’t be able to continue beyond this school year.
Your support is very much needed and appreciated!
You might know Five Nights at Freddy’s by reputation, even if your child has never actually played the game. Via playground rumours and circulated footage on platforms like YouTube, this 12-rated survival horror series (so far comprising nine games, several spin-off novels and a movie adaptation) has become possessed of a certain cult status among far younger players.
Whether the initial interest is sparked by peer pressure or morbid curiosity, this spooky saga of things that go bump in the night seems to resonate with many pre-teen gamers. However, as our #WakeUpWednesday guide explains, the sinister characters, unrelenting sense of tension and some disturbing themes are all potential hazards that parents and carers should be aware of.
