SDG Project
As well as settling into Leigh Academy Marden, making new friends and following new routines our youngest learners have been exploring growing vegetables. We started the week by reading our core text, The Lion and the Bird. The Lion is a keen gardener and enjoys growing tomatoes. Team Oak an Team Juniper had a go. Using our existing knowledge, we carefully placed tomato seeds in soil and we are all looking forward to watching them grow.
Amora: I like spending time with Nanny in the garden.
Hudson: I grow vegetables with my Nanny too.
Holly: You have to water the tomato seeds. They won't grow if you don't water them.
Vienna: We need water and sun for the tomatoes to grow.
Many children have spent considerable time perfecting their fine motor skills through cutting, mark making and drawing.
Luna: I like lions. I like all animals.
Nellie: I can cut out pictures of the lion and the bird. You have to be careful with scissors.
Tyler: I like sticking tomato pictures on my paper.
Rosalie: I like to colour and draw.
We look forward to sharing our learning journey with you.
