Year 5 have had a fantastic end to the module, diving into rich discussions and creative learning inspired by our class book The Boy at the Back of the Class. We've been exploring how to make our classroom and school a welcoming environment for refugees, showing incredible open-mindedness and reflection throughout. To deepen our connection to the story, the children even tried pomegranate—Ahmet’s favourite fruit in the book—and it was a hit!
We’ve wrapped up our narrative unit in Writing, where the children crafted stories based on a dilemma, inspired by themes from The Boy at the Back of the Class. They thoroughly enjoyed inventing their own characters and integrating them into their plots.
Our new topic on multiplication and division has begun in Maths, with a focus on identifying and working with multiples. This is a brilliant opportunity to revisit and strengthen our times tables knowledge.
Miss Thatcher and Miss Henry are incredibly proud of how hard everyone in Year 5 has worked and how smoothly you've settled into the new school year. Keep up the amazing effort and have an amazing half term!
