Central idea: Exploring identity can develop a sense of belonging.
It has been another busy and exciting week as we finish the first module in our inquiry! We have been so impressed with how the children continue to push their learning to enhance their wider knowledge. Our inquiry learning was concluded with the children writing and digitally producing an information leaflet about Marden. Our learning journey then led us to comparing geographical physical and human features in both Marden and South Korea looking at maps, landmarks and where we are in the world. The term concluded with a celebration of our learning, consisting of an immersive 'South Korean' experience, by taking the opportunity to try different foods.
In maths, we have been looking at the addition of three 1- digit numbers and the exchanging of numbers before moving on to other mathematical operations of multiplication and division in module 2. We continue with our learning of how to count in our 2's, 5's and 10's.
In science, the children really enjoyed looking at the different properties that materials have and testing a selection of differents things to see if they were waterproof. We were impressed with how they conducted a fair test in order to conclude their findings and to see if the prediction they made was an accurate one.
In English, the children have thoroughly enjoyed our core text 'The Name Jar' thinking about feelings and thoughts when faced with challenges in another country.
